Express Your Inner Child
One of our favorite ways to get fit is going old school and getting active in ways that feel less like work and more like play. Break out the chalk for a game of hopscotch, grab a jump rope and practice your double dutch with a friend or even hit up your local skating rink! Making your workout play is one of the best ways to lose weight and have a good time doing it.
Get in the Kitchen
Skip the drab diet snacks and channel your inner chef! Losing weight doesn’t have to mean sacrificing the foods you love. In fact, many classic cultural dishes and comfort foods (think beans, peas, greens, and so on) are actually great for weight loss and your health in general. Food is love and what better way to show yourself some love than cooking up some favorites? After all, whole health starts from within.
Getting out and exploring the world around you is good for the mind, body, and spirit. When it comes to getting a workout, there's a number of ways you can get your fill of outside while simultaneously getting in shape. Go climbing, hiking, or riding bikes with your girls to kick up the adrenaline and melt away those unwanted pounds. Not ready to go that hard? Take a jog through the park to get your blood pumping.
Make Time For Your Mind
When it comes to achieving any goal, balance is key. The same goes for your weight loss journey. A big part of shedding extra pounds is your mental attitude. Ever notice how much you achieve when you tell yourself “Yes I can!” There’s power in manifestation and thankfully, that doesn't have to be heavy. Set healthy weight loss goals in your mind and meditate on them when you have a quiet moment. You’ll see progress and feel more focused!
Rest + Reset
Surprisingly enough, part of a successful weight-loss plan includes rest and lots of it. Studies show that getting adequate sleep can help you avoid weight gain, moderate appetite, enhance your workout, and even help you make better food choices! The verdict is in - if you’re looking to lose weight, don’t sleep on getting sleep.
Forget the pressure and the stress, getting fit can be fun! Here’s to reaching all of our new year goals and enjoying every minute of it. What fun ways are you getting fit this year?
