The Gworls Are Brunching And Here Are Their Fave Spots

Through the hard times and the good times, there’s something all the Gworls can agree to — brunch is boss. Whether you’re on vacay or just looking for a primo place to chill with your girls, we’re spilling the tea on a few of our favorite spots to brunch across the USA. Pull up a chair, Rosettes, and get ready to indulge!

HalfSmoke - Washington, DC
A casual dining concept born in 2016, HalfSmoke combines elements of a homestyle diner with a cozy flair. Encouraging guests to be a part of the magic when it comes to enjoying their cuisine, HalfSmoke has fun features like a make-your-own-flatbread stone hearth and an ice cream and milkshake station.

With fresh fan faves like the “Cash App Me” (Cinnamon Toast Crunch flavored French toast served with home fries), more traditional choices like the “Oh, You Fancy” (HalfSmoke’s take on shrimp and grits), plus bottomless mimosas and espresso martinis, HalfSmoke is a hit.

BLVD Bistro - New York City
Run by husband and wife duo Carlos and Markisha Swepson, BLVD Bistro is one of Harlem’s hot spots for scrumptious soul food and banging brunch. With a low-key but lush interior that mixes down-home aesthetic with modern urban appeal, brunching at BLVD is a whole vibe.

BLVD’s brunch is served all day long and is inspired by Carlos Swepson’s Natchez, Mississippi upbringing. Whether you fill up on standards like steak and eggs, catfish and grits, and buttermilk pancakes, or stick to their popular biscuit sandwiches, you won’t be disappointed.

Sugar Jam Southern Kitchen - Phoenix, AZ
Sparked by Dana Dumas’ love of baking, Sugar jam Southern Kitchen is a showcase of sweet treats and delicious eats. Focusing on brunch and baked goods is the name of the game at Sugar Jam.

From the Savory Waffle n’ Country Fried Chicken Breast (a tasty cheddar and chive waffle topped with country fried chicken and gravy, paired with bacon and eggs) to the Pulled Pork Hash Breakfast or Big French Toast Sandwich, Sugar Jam is all about putting their own inventive spin on classic brunch favorites.

What could possibly make brunch any better? Dessert, of course. After brunching with the best at Sugar Jam, don’t miss out on the array of pies, cookies, cupcakes, and more that they have to offer - it’s all part of the experience.

Phil and Derek’s - Houston, TX
Known for “bringing New Orleans to Houston,” Phil and Derek’s is a Midtown staple that features fantastic food in a laid-back setting. Featuring mimosa buckets and a live DJ that spins from 12pm-4pm, Phil and Derek’s Sunday Brunch has been voted “Best Morning After Brunch” for three consecutive years.

With authentic eats like smoked boudin, gumbo, breakfast jambalaya, and more, it’s no surprise that Phil and Derek’s is one of the city’s top choices for brunch.

From coast to coast, brunching is a tried and true tradition that isn’t going away anytime soon. Which spots are your favorite to hit up?
