The pressure is on.
It’s December and we know many of our Rosettes are already thinking of ways to resolute in the new decade coming in less than a month. We’re assuming radical goals have been set, such as weight loss, improving punctuality at work (or even getting a new job), cutting out vices, and things of the such are at the top of many New Years Resolutions Lists.
But have you considered making small changes in your life, for major impacts? What if you could start a new “habit”, per se, and stick with it…for the rest of your life!?
Rosettes -You Can!
Contrary to the good ol’ saying, you can have your cake, and you can eat it too! You can drop unwanted or add healthy weight, and you can keep it off or keep it on. You can earn your dream job! You can do all the things your heart desires, and you don’t have to constrict yourself to a New Years Resolution to do so. The next question is…where do you start?
An easy life-changing hack that you can incorporate for long-term success in your life plan is to start writing (or typing) everything down. Make lists for groceries; write down your feelings on a daily or weekly basis. For the purpose of this hacks blog, start writing down your short-term and long-term goals. You can add time frames or you can set them by 1-year, 2-year, 5-year, and 10-year increments. Writing down your goals…and everything else is simply an affirmation of what you plan to do. Write it into existence, sis!
Spread love
There’s an old saying that you get out what you put in. Meaning, if you want to harvest goodness in your life, spread it! Have you considered volunteering at your local shelter, or sponsoring a low-income family in your community? There are so many ways to give back; these are just a few. But a rule of thumb in life is to treat others how you want to be treated, so why not share a little love, especially with the new year right around the corner? Boom!
Stack those coins, sis!
Are you ready to buy a new car? A new home? A new pair of roller blades? Do you just want to have money on reserve? Whatever your goal is, you better save up for it. Money doesn’t grow on trees, and neither will the car or house you’re looking to purchase. Even if it’s a few years out, start your saving now. Local credit unions are a great place to start because they typically have great perks when opening a new account compared to a mainstream banking system. If you aren’t ready to head to the bank, try simply keeping a jar or stash in your room or even a fireproof home safe. Every time you get a handful of coins from paying with cash, put it in your stash. You can also do a monthly challenge and add money each week to build your savings. Every little bit counts, so start now.
Fill up your own cup first
|It seems like a simple phrase, but many people neglect caring for the physical, mental, and emotional selves. We often forget to check in on ourselves and the neglect leaves little-to-no energy for our careers, our friendships, our families, even our pets. Do you enjoy stretching? Join a yoga class. Love trap music? Try a trap + yoga class. Love to eat? Cook yourself a nice, fulfilling, and healthy meal. Getting into the cycle of fast-food eating can leave our bodies depleted of the healthy nutrients we need. Do you want to better yourself in some way, shape, or form? Try a weekly podcast. The point is, do more of what you enjoy doing, and spend more time caring for yourself. Whatever you do in this new decade, caring for yourself is the most important life hack you can incorporate.
