New Jersey native Alexandra Mazyck is anything but average. A special education teacher with a passion for creativity, Alexandra thrives on finding new ways to teach her students about the world and inspiring other women to step outside their comfort zones and work towards their true potential.
“First and foremost, a Christ-follower,” it was no wonder that Mazyck’s spiritual journey steered her into her natural hair journey.
“As I learned to embrace my identity in Christ and recognized how intentional God was in creating me, I stopped trying to blend in with everyone else.”
For Alexandra, this also meant embracing her big, beautiful hair - and learning to treat it right.
“I wear it proudly and I’ve learned to see its beauty and love its versatility.”
Natural Ambition
Alexandra hopped on the natural haircare train after hours of YouTube research watching hair tutorials and product reviews one fateful Winter Break, stepping into the natural haircare gang in 2014 as a part of her New Year's Resolution.
Alexandra’s day-to-day haircare routine has been sweet and simple ever since.
She starts by gently detangling with a co-wash - like our decadent Caramel Cowash, a softening oil medley of pure aloe juice, organic coconut, safflower seed, argan, and soybean that reduces breakage and smooths hair follicles from root to tip. Next comes sulfate-free shampoo and a deep conditioner.
“If I have the time, I deep condition my hair under a steamer. Then I apply a leave-in or hair milk and a gel to soaking wet hair. I do this weekly to make sure my scalp stays clean, and my hair is hydrated moisturized.”
