We love the summer because it represents renewal and a fresh start. There are several things at Camille’s Corner we love about summertime like blossoming flowers, sunshine, and of course, fresh and glowing hair and skin! To kick off our debut of the Camille Rose FACE collection (Coming June 21), we sat down with Taste Maker London Alexaundria (IG: @london_lately), a beauty and wellness blogger that knows a lot about beauty and self-empowerment. Because we also love the natural and rejuvenating ingredients in our FACE line, we got London’s take on how she achieves her fresh FACE to bare her beautiful.
Camille’s Corner: Have you always wanted to be a writer and a creative? How did you get started?
@london_lately: I've always enjoyed writing and I was often told that I was good at it, but I never looked at writing as an actual career path. I majored in print journalism in college, but still was looking at other career options (honestly, I was all over the place in college, but that's a whole different story). After I graduated, I became a staff writer and also began freelancing, and I landed a position as a managing editor at a magazine. Although I didn't know what I wanted professionally, I never stopped writing and now here we are.
Camille’s Corner: What is the most memorable interview that you’ve ever done and why?
@london_lately: One interview that sticks out to me the most was with DJ Envy [from the radio show The Breakfast Club] and his wife Gia. I had just left my job and moved to Atlanta, and I was trying to get back into freelance writing, but it wasn't easy. One day, I got a call from DJ Envy's manager and he wanted me to do an interview. Till this day I still have no idea how he got my phone number. I was so nervous, but I knew I had to bring my A-game. Ultimately, the interview was a success and it opened the door for me to begin working withXO Necole as a regular freelance contributor.
Camille’s Corner: You write about wellness and natural hair all of the time, what are the 2 biggest tips that you’ve learned and applied in your own life to keep your natural hair and skin healthy?
@london_lately: I love DIYs and natural ingredients. For my hair, I added rice water to my wash day routine. It really softens my hair, gives it a shine and helps it grow. For my skin, I apply argon oil on my face each night and it really brightens my complexion.
Camille’s Corner: What are your next career aspirations and why?
@london_lately: I will never get away from writing, but I do want to take my writing into a new avenue – screenwriting. I have begun writing scripts and I'm looking to turn some of those scripts into web series.
Camille’s Corner: As a beauty and wellness creative, you’re constantly sharing new trends about beauty care. How do you define beauty for yourself?
@london_lately: I define beauty as happiness. When you're genuinely happy, it comes across your face and it is displayed in your aura. You feel good and it makes others around you feel good, too. Beauty does come from within and when you are happy with yourself, it truly shines through.
