Mother’s Day Wishes for 7 Great Moms

Mother’s Day Wishes for 7 Great Moms
With 2020 almost halfway over, we still can’t believe that it’s already May. It seems like since March, the year quickly fast-forwarded to…Mother’s Day! Although we’re in unprecedented times, we’re thankful to still be able to celebrate all of the wonderful moms around the world. From non-profits to home workouts, we’re thankful for these seven moms that have showed up and showed out to make the world a better place. A bonus to their beautiful hearts – they all have beautiful hair!

Taraji P. Henson
We absolutely lost it when Taraji graced the cover of the March/ April edition of Essence with her gorgeous, golden fro. In her story, she gushes about her love life, her acting career, and what she’s and some of her greatest passions. What we adore about this mom is her love for others, especially the mental health of African Americans. Taraji’s Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation, named after her father, focuses on the mental health issues like depression that, she says, “We often don’t deal with.” And let's not forget her acting skills, from Empire to Think Like a Man, just to name a few.

Beyoncé
Ok, hands down, we love Queen Bey for obvious reasons – she’s brought us hit after hit, and has been the face of African American female singers for decades now. But what we really love about Beyoncé is her willingness to lift up her community. During the COVID-19 crisis, Beyoncé donated $6M to mental health relief efforts, targeting people of color. Her efforts are to support those that don’t have access to resources, especially during this trying time. What a supermom!

Vanessa Bryant
We’ve been by Vanessa’s side since the tragic death of her closest loved ones, basketball legend Kobe Bryant and their daughter Gianna, earlier this year. We can’t help but continue to uplift her today and every day, as she and her family cope with their “new normal”. What’s impressive about Vanessa is her warm spirit and big heart, even during mourning. She continues to uphold her family’s legacy and love for sports with the Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation, dedicated to creating a positive impact through sports.

Erykah Badu and Jill Scott
We all just about lit a candle when we heard the announcement drop: these two living legends and loving moms will be sounding off on one of the coolest upcoming platforms, Verzuz Battle by Timbaland. Do we deserve something so epic, legendary, and original? Probably not. But we can’t get over how excited we are to witness this Instagram Live battle. While we are equally celebrating these ladies on Mother’s Day, they’re giving us a treat and another amazing way to get us through this pandemic. Be there – May 9, 7 pm EST.

Joie Chavis
Many of you may know Joie from her tremendously entertaining (and flexible) dances performed at Aliya Janell’s LA-based Queens N’ Lettos dance studio. We love this mom of two because when she’s not performing or filming her adorable daughter in Tik Tok videos, she’s creating a fitness empire. Her YouTube channel, Joie in Life, is filled with great videos, tips, and tricks to create and sustain a healthy life. Added bonus, we love her workout gear and clothes. Go, girl!

Janell Stephens
How could we not celebrate our founder?! Janell Stephens is a mother of five, and entrepreneur. Camille Rose has grown into a billion-dollar industry since 2011, and came to life while Janell was doing what she does best – loving her children. She was looking for the best, natural products to help her children's eczema for body and hair, and when she couldn’t find it, an empire was born. We love Janell, not just because of her motherly instincts, but also her boss-mom mentality.

We hope you all take the time to honor the mothers around you and worldwide. Send a card, send a note, send a phone call and tell a mom why you adore her the most. Happy Mother’s Day!
